The third week of August of every year is recognized as National Friendship Week. The idea of having a day or a week to show appreciation to friends, who are so crucial to our happiness, could easily have been the brainchild of Joyce Hall, the founder of the Hallmark Card Company. In 1930, she began a campaign in which she promoted the idea of Friendship Day, so people could acknowledge the special people in their lives.
She thought August 2 would be the perfect day on which to celebrate friends. The idea of celebrating friends turned into a weeklong event. It is supposed to be a time during which people take time out of their busy schedules to spend time with friends, send gifts to far-away friends, or simply show a special friend that they matter. When you want to say something special to someone, you can always say it with flowers.
We have come up with some suggestions that we think are beautiful arrangements with which to share your appreciation with a friend.
Dreamsicle
Our “Dreamsicle” arrangement reminds us of the childhood ice cream treat we used to eat during the summer. We chose a bubble bowl so that this design would fit anywhere – on a desk, end table, nightstand, or on any small surface. We include Gerbera daisies, roses, hydrangeas, and some decorative filler. This summery arrangement will delight any friend, and they’ll know exactly what you’re trying to tell him or her.
Gerbera Daisy Vase
Our Gerbera Daisy Vase is a delightful classic. Gerbera daisies just ooze happiness and friendship. You can choose an arrangement of six, ten, or fifteen flowers, and we’ll add some decorative filler to make it more special.
Lavender Plaid Bouquet
The Lavender Plaid Bouquet is ideal for any friend who loves purple. The elegant hand-painted plaid vase is filled with flowers in different shades of purple. We add decorative butterflies for a whimsical and special touch.
