Autumn Embers
We all know that turkey is the official entree of Thanksgiving Day. In fact, on November 24, over 46 million turkeys will be eaten by 88% of Americans, although no one really knows how the bird earned that dubious honor.
Since the establishment of Thanksgiving as a national holiday in 1863, the choicest turkey has been delivered to the White House for the President’s holiday dinner. John F. Kennedy decided to pardon the turkey presented to him and a tradition was born.
TV dinners exist because of a Thanksgiving error by the manufacturer
Swanson Foods. In 1953, they had 26 tons of leftover frozen turkeys and needed to come up with a solution. They carved up the birds and packaged with some side dishes to get rid of the excess poultry.
Only male turkeys gobble. Female turkeys cackle like hens.
You are not sleepy because of tryptophan, as you have been led to believe. In fact, your chicken dinner has more tryptophan than your holiday meal. The sleepiness is due to the fact that our bodies are working hard to digest all the extra food.
