Touche de Femme Earrings
These earrings feature two elegant brass hands each holding a luminescent vintage mother-of-pearl drop.
In the Victorian era, disembodied women’s hands were symbols of loyalty, strength, romance, and fidelity. The biological name for mother-of-pearl is nacre. Nacre is formed from a blend of minerals a mollusk secretes to protect itself from foreign objects, such as sand, in its shell. The nacre wraps itself around the intruding object in layers creating a pearl and thus is called “the mother of the pearl”.
So we like to imagine that these earrings symbolize the protective hands of a loving mother.
